UW-Parkside Library Mission and Strategic Directions
Mission
The University of Wisconsin Parkside Library provides resources that facilitate teaching, research, and the service mission of the University, The Library also promotes self-directed, engaged learning and encourages critical thinking and the application of research skills.
The following strategic directions will help us fulfill our mission.
Strategic Direction #1
Become a model of outstanding service.
Commit our resources to ensure student success.
Maintain high standards of courtesy and willingness to serve.
Value the importance of every individual.
Strategic Direction #2
Provide efficient access to print and electronic resources.
Identify and select collections that support the University's curriculum and the research needs of its faculty, students and staff.
Use available technology to support learning and information sharing.
Offer effective instructional services regarding access to collections and their use.
Preserve and promote our unique archival and special collections.
Market our resources effectively.
Strategic Direction #3
Provide an engaging and welcoming academic environment that is conducive to learning and research.
Create a comfortable physical space for group and individual study.
Provide a virtual space that facilitates efficient access to resources and distance learning.
Offer comprehensive individual reference services, on-and off-site.
Observe policies which promote the University's stand on inclusivity and diversity.
Strategic Direction #4
Participate in campus, local, and UW-system communities.
Partner with campus departments to develop collections and sponsor programming.
Support campus and UW-System initiatives through active involvement.
Contribute content to collective resources such as digital collections.
Seek opportunities to contribute services to our community.
Strategic Direction #5
Commit to continuous improvement.
Participate in professional development opportunities.
Develop a diverse, qualified and service-oriented staff and encourage the members' professional and personal growth.
Pursue funding for new initiatives and resources and participate in funded programs.
Regularly evaluate our performance as it relates to progress toward our strategic directions.
