Use Library Licensed Resources

The UWP Library purchases and subscribes to many electronic resources including journals, streaming media, and e-books for authorized users per license agreements. Authorized users are usually UWP faculty, staff, students, and on-campus users. The advantage to using resources licensed by the library:

  • No need to do a fair use analysis
  • Don't need to seek permission from the copyright holder

Best practices for posting resources to avoid copyright issues:

  • Embed a link to the resource in your Canvas course page
  • When using YouTube videos, always embed a link to the resource
  • Always post course resources on Canvas and avoid distribution through email
  • Always perform a Fair Use analysis before using outside material and seek permission for use if needed
