Dealing with Change in Libraries

The Alma Change Management Working Group has gathered the resources below to assist UW campuses through the Alma migration.

Library technologies often act as a catalyst for change within the library environment. As a result, there is a great need for library staff at all levels of the organization to have access to support and training materials that will prepare them to be successful during any transition.

How can I use this resource portal?

  • Local campus leaders/managers preparing for a staff meeting.
  • Supervisor preparing to help their staff through the transition.
  • Library professionals looking for ways to coach their colleagues and lead from the middle.
  • Any library staff preparing themselves to assist library patrons through the change.

Conversations that inspire: Coaching learning, leadership and change

October 5-November 8, 2015

Coaching can inspire and motivate people to learn, change and be effective leaders, among other roles in life. Although most attempts are “coaching for compliance” (coaching someone to your wishes or expectations), decades of behavioral and neuroscience research show us that “coaching with compassion” (coaching someone to their dreams and desires) is more effective.
